뉴욕목사회(회장 송병기 목사)는 1월 12일(월) 청교도들이 미국에 처음 도착한 지역인 플리머스를 방문하는 1일 트립을 가졌다.

모임을 끝내고 청교도 신앙으로 돌아가자는 "선언문"을 한글과 영어로 발표했다.

그 서문은 "21세기를 살고 있는 크리스찬으로서 미국과 세계의 현재상황을 보면서 교회와 크리스찬들이 하나님 중심의 청교도적 신앙에서 퇴락해져 간 결과 도덕이 부패하고, 가정이 무너지고, 교회가 타락하는 현실을 절감하면서 "청교도적인 신앙을 회복하자"는 뜻으로 미국역사의 신앙근원지인 플리머스에서 미국과 세계의 평화와 축복을 하나님께 간구하며 다음과 같이 선언한다"라고 시작한다.

선언문은 "하나님, 예수님, 성령님, 말씀, 십자가, 교회에서의 신앙의 자유, 가정에서의 자녀의 교육, 긍휼과 법과 정의, 신앙과 생활, 자유와 평등, 지혜와 영적전쟁, 회복과 부흥"등 12가지면에서 선언을 담고 있다.

선 언 문

우리는 21세기에 살고 있는 크리스천으로써 미국과 세계의 현재 상황을 보며 교회와 크리스천들이 하나님 중심의 청교도적인 신앙에서 퇴락해져 간 결과로 도덕이 부패하고, 가정이 무너지고, 교회가 타락하는 현실을 절감하면서‘청교도적인 신앙을 회복하자’는 뜻으로 미국역사의 신앙근원지인 플리머스에서 미국과 세계의 평화와 축복을 하나님께 간구하며 다음과 같이 선언한다.

一. (하나님) 우리는 하나님께서 미국 땅에 청교도들을 보내시어 삼위일체 하나님을 경외하는 신앙의 기초 위에 나라가 세워지게 된 것을 선언한다.

一. (예수님) 우리는 청교도 신앙이 예수 그리스도 중심이 되었고 예수 그리스도께서 우리의 생명의 구주가 되심과 인생의 주인이 되신 것을 믿으며, 우리의 구원은 오직 예수 그리스도의 십자가의 공로와 은혜를 믿는 믿음으로만 가능함을 선언한다.

一. (성령님) 우리는 청교도들의 경건한 기도생활과 같이 하나님 아버지께 기도할 수 있음과 성령의 지속적인 성화과정을 통해서 거룩한 생활을 해야 함을 선언한다.

一. (말씀) 우리는 청교도 신앙의 핵심은 하나님의 말씀에 대한 철저한 복종임을 믿고, 성경말씀을 구원의 도리와 모든 생활의 근간이 되어야 함을 선언한다.

一. (십자가) 우리는 청교도들의 신앙 핵심은 십자가 신앙임과 같이 우리의 옛 사람을 십자가에 못 박고 새로운 피조물로서 거룩한 백성으로서 하나님을 예배해야 함을 선언한다.

一. (교회에서 신앙의 자유) 우리는 청교도들과 같이 개인의 양심의 자유를 따라서 하나님을 예배함을 믿으며  어떤 국가나 종교의 이름으로 신앙적 자유와 교회생활을 억압하는 행위는 금지되어야 함을 선언한다.

一. (가정에서 자녀의 교육) 우리는 청교도들과 같이 우리의 자녀들을 주님의 교양과 훈계로 양육해야 하며, 그들이 이 땅의 주인으로 살아갈 수 있도록 축복하고 인도하여 행복한 가정을 이루어 가야 함을 선언한다.

一. (긍휼과 법과 정의) 우리는 청교도들과 같이 하나님의 긍휼하심을 믿는 동시에 법과 질서를 기준으로 정의가 수호 되어야 함을 선언한다.

一. (신앙과 생활) 우리는 청교도들과 같이 그리스도를 따라 거룩하고 순결한 삶을 추구하므로 세상에 빛과 소금의 역할을 감당하는 예언자적이고 전도자적인 삶을 살아야 함을 선언한다.

一. (자유와 평등) 우리는 청교도들과 같이 인간의 기본권인 자유와 평등이 보장되어야 함을 믿으며 독재주의나 제국주의적 인권탄압이 세상에서 근절되어야 함을 선언한다.

一. (지혜와 영적전쟁) 우리는 청교도들의 지혜로움과 담대함과 같이 세상을 향하여 지혜롭게 대처하며 흑암의 권세와 부도덕한 삶(동성연애,낙태 등)에 대해서는 영적군사와 같이 강력히 대항해야 함을 선언한다.

一. (회복과 부흥) 우리는 청교도들과 같이 위로 하나님을 경외하며 아래로 사람을 사랑하면서 이 땅에 다시 한 번 영적인 회복과 치유와 부흥이 있어야 함을 선언한다.

Statements of Declaration

We, as Christians of the 21st century, facing what has been happening in the United States and the world as a result of people falling away from a God-centered life and a Puritan faith, and fully realizing the reality of the decay of morality, broken families and backsliding churches, make the following statements here at Plymouth, MA, the birthplace of American history, upholding the cry, "Let us rediscover the Puritan faith!" and seeking God in prayer for the United States and for world peace.

一. (God) We declare that the United States has been founded upon the faith of God of the Trinity by the people who were sent by Him as the Puritans.

一. (Jesus) We declare that the Puritan faith was found in Jesus Christ who is both the Saviour and the Lord of our life and that our salvation comes only by believing in the work of Jesus Christ who died on the cross in which we all find grace.

一. (The Holy Spirit) We declare that as the Puritans were devoted to a prayer life, we are to pray to God the Father and to lead our lives in holiness through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

一. (The Word of God) We declare that as the Puritans emphatically believed in thorough obedience to the Word of God, we must uphold the Scriptures as the foundation for both salvation eternal and life on earth.

一. (Cross) We declare that as the Puritans believed in cross-bearing, we must crucify ourselves and live as a new creation to worship God as holy people.

一. (Church and Freedom of Faith) We declare that as the Puritans believed, we also believe in the individual freedom of conscience to worship, and therefore any attempts to oppress our freedom of worship and church life must be stopped.

一. (Family and Education of Children) We declare that as the Puritans did, we must raise our children in the training and instruction of the Lord and bless them so that they may live as happy families as well as owners of this land.

一. (Mercy, Law and Justice) We declare that following the Puritans, we believe in God's mercy and at the same time justice and the law must be upheld.

一. (Holiness and Life) We declare that we ought to follow Christ by leading holy and pure lives so that we may proclaim the role of being the salt and the light prophetically and evangelistically, just as the Puritans did.

一. (Liberty and Equality) We declare that like the Puritans, the basic human rights of liberty and equality must be insured for all people, and therefore tyrannical and imperialistic oppression must be halted.

一. (Wisdom and Spiritual Warfare) We declare that, valuing the wisdom and courage of the Puritans, we must act wisely in the world and confront courageously, as Christian soldiers, the power of darkness and the practice of immoralities (such as homosexuality and abortion).

一. (Restoration and Revival) We declare that as the Puritans did we ought to fear God in heaven and love human beings on earth and desire to see spiritual restoration, healing and revival upon this land in our time.
